URBAN GRIOT, Modern Visual Storytellers, Opening Reception
A griot is defined as a class of traveling poets, musicians, or storytellers who maintain a tradition of oral history. This exhibit reflects the brazenness of artists to tell stories visually. Our featured artist for September is Charles E. Moss, popularly referred to as “The Ghetto Cowboy”. The Ghetto Cowboy is an historical painting artist who has been telling the story of the African American journey for the past 30 years. The theme of his work is “In Search of Self”. His art depicts stories as told by his ancestors and his personal life experience. For more of The Ghetto Cowboy visit http://www.theghettocowboy.com/
